Existing State Laws We Support

Three states have passed AI safety laws that we support, with each one building on the last.

SB 53
The foundation

Publish a safety plan

AI companies must publicly publish a legally-binding plan for how they’ll prevent catastrophic harm.

Follow their own plan

If they break their own safety plan, the Attorney General can sue.

Report when things go wrong

Serious safety incidents must be reported to the state within 15 days, or 24 hours if lives are at risk.

Protect whistleblowers

Employees can’t be punished for reporting dangers or violations.
