Information We Collect

We collect information you voluntarily provide when you interact with PauseAI US, including:

• Contacting a member of Congress through our action campaigns — name, email address, zip code
• Joining a local group — name, email address, zip code
• Subscribing to our mailing list — name, email address
• Making a donation — name, email address, and payment information (processed by our payment providers, not stored on our servers)
• RSVPing to events — name, email address, and any information collected by our event platforms
• Contacting us by email — your email address and message contents

Paper Sign-Ups at Events

When you sign a petition or provide your contact information on paper at a PauseAI US event, we digitize that information and enter it into the same systems described in this policy. Your handwritten sign-up is treated with the same care as an online submission.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide to:

• Connect you with a local group. We use your zip code to assign you to the nearest PauseAI local group in your area. This is described in more detail below.
• Send you email updates about PauseAI US news, events, and opportunities to take action
• Process and acknowledge your donations
• Track our supporters and donors in our internal database to manage our relationship with you
• Improve our website and outreach using aggregated analytics data
• Comply with legal and tax obligations

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Local Groups & Data Sharing with Volunteer Leaders

Services That Store Your Data

We use the following third-party services to operate PauseAI US. Each has its own privacy policy:

• Mailchimp (email marketing) — stores your name and email address. Only PauseAI US staff send emails through Mailchimp. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. Intuit/Mailchimp privacy policy
• Google Groups (local group communication) — stores your email address for local group coordination, as described above. Google privacy policy
• Little Green Light (donor and supporter database) — stores your name, email, zip code, donation history, and interaction history. This is our internal CRM used only by PauseAI US staff. Little Green Light privacy policy
• Zeffy (donation processing) — processes payment information when you donate through our primary donation page. We do not store your credit card or bank details. Zeffy privacy policy
• Every.org (donation processing) — an additional platform through which we accept donations. Every.org privacy policy
• Luma (event RSVPs) — collects your name and email when you register for events. We may import event attendee data into our other systems. Luma privacy policy
• Substack (newsletter) — if you subscribe to our Substack newsletter, your email is stored by Substack. We may import subscriber data into our other systems. Substack privacy policy

Analytics & Tracking

We use the following tools to understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it. These tools collect anonymized or pseudonymized data such as pages visited, time on site, and general geographic region:

• Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — Google privacy policy
• PostHog — an open-source analytics platform. PostHog privacy policy
• Meta Pixel — helps us measure the effectiveness of our outreach on Facebook and Instagram. You can manage your preferences through Meta’s ad settings.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies for analytics (described above) and basic site functionality. These cookies help us understand aggregate traffic patterns. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies will not prevent you from using our website.

Third-Party Platforms

Our website links to third-party platforms including Discord, social media sites, Google Forms, and congressional contact tools (Muster). When you interact with these platforms, their privacy policies apply. Our Discord server is a public community space — anything you post there is visible to other members.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as it is needed to support our mission, maintain our relationship with you, and comply with legal obligations. Donation records are retained as required for tax and nonprofit compliance purposes. You may request deletion of your data at any time.

• Be removed from a local group’s contact list
• Unsubscribe from email communications at any time
